Krafty goes Old Skool Print

While the guys down at 4boards are sorting out some new kit for Krafty he's making the most of conditions using old kit he's hung onto over the years to plug gaps in his quiver as required.

Pevensey Bay on 16th May 2009 called in this 'old stock' for service having promised more than it was delivering at the beach.

Krafty just got on with rigging up and headed out to play

Kona & Superfreak

Krafty picked out the Kona 10'5 from the van and rigged up his old 5.8m Superfreak with the sole intention of being able to stay upwind and pick off the waves to surf.

The rip current at Pevensey was running like a conveyor belt, and with wind assistance, it looked like being a mission to stay upwind on smaller kit, and so it proved for many.

Kona & Superfreak

Most of the guys had opted for 5.5-6.5m rigs and were using 100-115ltr boards, and most fell victim to the current. Despite this most had really enjoyed the waves that the swell was bringing to the bay, until the wind eased and the sea flattened off.

Henry on his new board & old 6.5m

Henry (pic above) was on his new Freewave 113 for the first time, and was suffering perpetual 'one last run' syndrome having too much fun. He managed to stay upwind / tide pretty well, perhaps having a 6.5m on the Freewave was just about the right combo .... he certainly enjoyed himself.

Guy

Guy had one of those 50/50 sessions on his RRD FSW100 and 5.7m. Half the session he was lovin it, the other half he was captured and escorted off the premises and deposited outside of our play area.

Colin on this weeks new toy

Launching from the cheap seats, to avoid the parking fees at Pevensey Central, here's Colin trying out another new toy. Rumoured to be a tri-fin, there's no wonder he's playing in the surf.

Kona & Superfreak

There would be more people in the pictures, had they stayed upwind. Pictures were all taken by Rich from Sussex-Windsurfing and he's a serial offender with the camera so go check out his gallery. Be aware though, he's normally on the water when it's good, so many of his pictures are taken either side of the best conditions. He obviously lacks commitment Surprised
