ION Man PR

Location - Eastbourne Extreme - July 17th & 18th 2010

Eastbourne Extreme

Confirmed Event - Stick it in the diary Smile

Event Format

The event will be a team event, with teams of three competing in a variety of activities over the event duration. Shops and Centres will be invited, as team sponsors, to enter teams to represent them, and to provide extra media exposure for the Team Sponsors.

Full power endurance racing

The overall ION Man winning team could find themselves in line for a prize well worth all the effort and endurance required to take the title. Details of the prizes will be released in due course, but for now, start hassling your local shops / centres etc to get a team registered.

Jump Comp

The team Sponsors (shops / centres) will need to register their team name in advance of the event, confirming that they will send a team to represent them. Conditions at the event cannot be gauranteed, of this we are certain, so loading a team in anticipation of activities based on prior experience could be a mistake.

Extreme SUP in 30 knots of wind

ION MAN 2010 will be incorporating the new Fanatic Fly board within it's program, and Team Sponsors will have the opportunity to purchase it's Team a Fly board as part of the ION MAN ESSENTAILS PACKAGE for the event at an extra special ION MAN rate. For shops and centres this aspect alone would be worth sorting a team ... see below for some details etc

Waiting instructions ....

The Fly is an extremely versatile board, and as such it will be possible to run a multitude of competitions using this board, and therefore guarantee a full weekend ION Man competition what ever conditions are encountered. Windsurf (race, freestyle, speed, wave), SUP, Surf, Surf-Kayak are all possible, with minimal kit requirements for the weekend. Each competitor will be provided with a Fly board by their team sponsor for the event, and bring with them windsurf rigs from 6.0m down plus other boards as take their fancy and fit in their vehicle, to suit the forecast.

We'll bring some demo kit toooooo

Entry fees are to be confirmed, although the thought process is such that competitors representing their sponsors should not incur an entry fee for their efforts. As such, we are looking into various avenues to cost cover events, so the only costs the competitors incur are typical weekend away costs.

A lot of the ideas are still being floated, but this is offered initially as a taster, with updates and confirmation of details to be added in due course.

ION MAN 2009

This is set to be a fun packed event, all about enjoying a weekend away and making the best of whatever conditions are thrown at us all, with just a twist of ION Man Mayhem to spice it right up.

A couple of seasons careful research and thorough testing in the background gave birth to three super Fly SUP shapes. Designed mainly with surfing performance in mind, these beautifully compact boards have waveriding rocker lines, yet their harmonic volume placement and plan shapes allow for super fun core workouts on flat-water and lakes. As an added bonus all three styles come with windsurfing rig mast-tracks to widen their all-round and family range of use. With two models for any level of rider and one advanced shape, you’ll be stoked on surfing whenever the wind fails to howl. To suit everyone’s taste we’re offering two constructions - either durable High Resistance Skin (HRS), or stylish Wood Sandwich finishes. Both lay-ups come with snug and trusty Softdeck non-slip pads.

Fly 10’ 0”
For lighter and middleweight riders, the Fly 10’ 0” is perfect for first waves through to charging big surf. A classic pintail shape guarantees performance and speed, while the lower entry rocker line means you’ll never miss a wave. With a speedy flat spot in front of plenty of V in the tail, this 10-footer feels loose for vertical control and power. A tri fin cluster gives further options for drive and tracking in almost any water state. Available in either High Resistance Skin (HRS) or high-spec Wood Sandwich Constructions – both featuring Softdeck non-slip pad.

Fly 10’ 6”
A board for a lifetime of surfing. Heavier riders or those who want a board for all conditions will fall in love with this timeless thruster shape. Soft rails up front and sharper edges in the tail give the grip and feel of a smaller board with all the grace and glide of the ancient Hawaiians. Thanks to a flatter nose rocker and more pronounced curve in the tail, you gain easy paddling and turning ability for effortless, cruisy rides. A flat deck and volume out wide mean there’s balance and stability galore. A whole new world of fitness and adventure awaits as you explore rivers and creeks, enjoy long distance paddles, or just splashing around on your local lake. What greater way to share the joy of surfing with family, friends and beginners? Choose from lightweight Wood Sandwich or durable HRS constructions, with both models sporting comfy slip-free Softdeck.

Design Features:
- Flatter rocker, for early glide and windsurf planning option
- Increased volume to float high
- Full rail shape to keep the volume in the rails and a flat deck
- Flat deck for stability and secure stance
- Compact outline

A combination of top quality and intelligent layup specifications, Wood Sandwich and Glass/Wood reinforcements, gives the Wood Sandwich Construction extremely competitive weights at value prices. Used for the standard Hawk model, now also available in the light finish sanded look for the most efficient weight possible.

High resistance composite technology – an optimum weight and durable construction for every-day use. A thick, durable outer skin gives the board hull a high strength, ding and impact resistance. Strategic use of glass reinforcements ensures an adequate stiffness. Used on the standard Shark, as well as on the Viper/Ripper ranges in combination with a user friendly EVA deck.
