A windsurfer emailed in with this sign he spotted at his local beach, which looks to be banning windsurfing:



The RYA's legal team investigated this particular one (at Rother District Council) and found that there are no legal restrictions on windsurfing in that area (e.g. bylaws).

It seems like the best plan at the moment it to get in touch with your local council if you see these signs at your local beach. It could just be the amenities department getting over-protective, but it seems likely to cause misunderstanding if these go unchallenged.

I will update with news and feedback as it comes through, but doesn't seem to be the big panic initially thought by many of my local windsurf & kitesurf buddies .... thankfully
