Krafty has put his name down to join the merry band of fundraisers for this coastal challenge which links two of his regular windsurfing spots. Having missed out on the Sunrise to Sunset W4CR events this was an opportunity he was keen not to miss. Its a cause which needs no introductions, please give generously!!
You can donate online at: Bexhill to Camber Challenge!! 28th August - 30th August for Cancer Research. The proposed route in a SSW to WSW wind!! Beware the cliffs. Reckon we should if needed stop at Rockanore and some people should think whether they can make it past the cliffs. (If you feel you cant swim the distance dont do it if your a windsurfer, becuase if you break your fin, sail or even worse your body you'll most likely be on your own its really really hard to sail close together people will be going at different speeds.) Kayakers!!! and Walkers look out for crashed out windsurfers!!
There is also a Facebook page which will be kept up to date by the 'organisers' of this charity coastal dash OFFICIAL BLURB Welcome to the Bexhill to Camber Challenge!! 28th August - 30th August for Cancer Research.NOW SPONSORED BY OVER BOARD!! www.over-board.co.uk They will be donating 100% waterproof backpacks as prizes on the day (All team members will also get kayak or sail stickers)The challenge is to cover the 20 Miles by sea (true distance 30-35miles sailing distance) between Bexhill and Camber. Most will windsurf, kitesurfing or kayak but some will join us overland by biking/walking.It's team of friends who are doing it for the challenge and for raising money. Its a not open to the general public and its not an organised event. There is no rescue cover. If you want to join us please contact us on the facebook page and we will add you:). Remember for the team members its at your own risk!! 20 Miles by sea is a long way to go by amateurs. The true distance by sail even could up to 35-40 miles depending on the tides and winds on the day. Dehydration, fatigue, sun stroke are major factors to consider,as well as knowing your own limits! Ultimately mother nature will have her own say. There will be a flexible 3 day window to ensure the best conditions.Conditions (ideally windy and sunny!! pushing us nicely along the coast:) :Event will be held with a 10knots+ wind from the S to W (light in the morning for kayakers and picking up for windsurfers later on (estimated start time will be posted nearer the time)). Or worst case a SE-NNE wind (upwind!). If its above a Force 6 some kayakers might want to opt out? Estimated time on kayak: 6-8hours Estimated time on windsurfer 3-10hours. (if the wind is good it could be much quicker, or if the wind is bad a very long time!!)Estimated time on paddleboard 5-8hours. (downwind no problem faster than kayak riding the swells, v hard upwind!! and in choppy seas!!)Estimated time walking 7-8 hours. (have nice stop for fish and chips and you will get there..... eventually!!)
