Surf/Windsurf Van - SOLD - 1998 2.5D 2 berth converted Renault Master Print
Krafty's van

1998(S)Renault Master 2.5D MWB High Roof Van
in Renault Sport White,160k on the clock, and with PAS making it easy to drive for a bigger van.

Comes with a new mot, a few months tax, and some diesel in the tank

A practical surf / windsurf / kayak / mountain bike specific 2 berth camper conversion, with a cooker, sink, heating, fridge etc.

This has originally been kitted out for windsurfing, with loads of storage for boards / rigs etc, however would be very practical solution for anyone looking for a practical sports biased weekender camper van solution.

It does require a small amount of work to interior to complete this conversion, which allows some scope to further personalise the layout to suit your own requirements.
Van is being 'sold as seen'

(there is no vat on this vehicle)

There are plenty of pictures below, to save typing a lengthy description of this van and it's layout, and to hopefully give a better understanding of it's potential suitability for your own requirements.

Note, under the rear facing seat is storage area, suitable for bedding etc. Under the rear seat the storage is 'open' for easy access and would prove suitable for a portaloo and other such 'facilities'. Alternatively, adding some drawers would give more storage capability.

PLEASE NOTE

This van has proven to be very reliable, starting on the button and getting to numerous beaches without dilema. As with all things automotive, and in used condition, it's not possible to offer any guarantees with the sale of this vehicle, so viewing is highly recommended to ensure that it is exactly as you hope.

Attention

There are a couple of items requiring attention, none are critical to safety or operation of the van, but personally I find them frustrating, and I feel it fair to highlight these accordingly. Price being asked is for the vehicle as it stands, and takes these items into consideration, however if you would wish to buy with these items 'sorted', then I can arrange a quotation, and at your expense book the van in for the work to be done prior to collection.

The side loading door - the plastic handle snapped on the outside, so this can only now be opened from inside. Replacement looks to be simple, and apparently inexpensive too. Also, although the door does open and shut, the runner is slightly corroded and one of the rollers is broken. The motion is not smooth, and there is also a risk that the rear guide can drop out of the runner if not careful. Replacement runners and roller assemblies are readily available, and again relatively inexpensive.

Driver's door - the key lock does not work. Again this is relatively common fault, with the lug on the inside that operates the mechanism breaking off. Apparently it is possible to replace the component without the requirement for a complete replacement lockset. Main problem as it stands is that access is limited to via the passenger door when vehicle is locked.

Gas appliances - although I have used the hob to boil a kettle and cook a couple of tins of beans since I've had the van, I honestly cannot vouch for safety of the appliances and highly recommend getting the gas appliances serviced by an expert prior to use. I have not used the fridge, so am unable to vouch for it's effectiveness.

Water pump - system uses a whale submersible pump in the water container seen in the rear view internal picture. The pump should be replaced for santitation reasons as shows signs of limescale. These are readily available for between £10-20 from camping stores.

Fan belt - needs tensioning as squeeled a little when I moved van over Xmas break. Alternator was replaced pretty recently and belt is new, so just a tensioning job, but worth mentioning.

Roof lining - ceiling is plywood, and at some time there has been a leak from the roof which has discoloured the ply. Hasn't leaked since I've had it back, but it did leak while it was stored as the skylight was slightly open. I also had the sliding door re-aligned as it didn't appear to shut at the top edge, and I felt this perhaps contributed to the dampness. Once you feel certain the leak is non existent, carpetting the ceiling would add a finished touch to the interior.

Hopefully you will find the description accurate, and the van worthy of consideration. As mentioned, defects which you would prefer to be sorted can be done, and I can get an estimate for the work to be done professionally on your behalf.

I truly believe them to be inexpensive, but perhaps time consuming, to remedy, but I have also set my starting price extemely competitively taking these items into consideration. It isn't perfect, but it is an honest workhorse with a few creature comforts thrown in for good measure. With a little TLC, and perhaps one or two camper specific additions (some internal overhead lockers in rear & a bike rack on rear door for example), this would make a very tidy camper van on a par with those seen advertised for £6k plus, yet more versatile for surfari intentions than many of them. On a plus note, there's approximately half a tank of juice in there too ....
