Information on the UKWA website at the close of 2008's season, shows Krafty as UKWA Kona Cup Champion, taking both the Cup and the Inland Kona titles in the process.

The British Kona Cup Series was run over a combination of UKWA Inland and Cup events to make a 5 event series. Full details of the complete British Kona Cup Series can be seen on the international Kona website. 

Krafty was quoted as having really enjoyed racing in the Kona Series, despite a total lack of longboard racing experience. He also commented on how much fun the boards were when the winds got up, with special mention of the Bridlington event racing fellow Surfkraft rider, Rich Carter.

 Krafty was also quick to play down his winning, referring to the official National & International Kona Rankings and doffing his cap to Paul Raven, who chose to represent the UK at the Kona Worlds and boosted his rankings massively as a result. Paul also entered the Eastbourne event, and took the win convincingly, though Krafty did make an effort to beat Paul in the Acutel Challenge, just to maintain some parity.

Being the organiser in chief for the series meant Krafty was ineligible for any prize monies from the series, so handed down any winnings to the next place competitor each time he found himself on the podium.

The big question for 2009 might be whether or not Krafty opts to defend his Kona title, or reverts to his preferred shortboard / funboard racing to satisfy his competitive urges. When asked about his plans for 2009, Krafty seemed to be looking at overseas events with more intent, following his experiences on the 2008 Tour Duf Windsurf in Brittany, and also potentially a re-visit to Defi Wind, hoping this time for some wind !!! Maybe when the 2009 Kona events are announced, Krafty will be persuaded to race the Kona in anger?
